SOCIAL
There is an extensive range of social activity and this is enthusiastically supported by our members. The club puts together a schedule of events and this is supplemented in many cases by groups of members getting together to do something of particular interest to them.
STAYING IN TOUCH
Members keep in constant touch with each via a variety of methods.
Members keep in constant touch with each via a variety of methods.
Facebook is popular with many members and is widely used by members to communicate about all manner of topics. We have a Facebook Page for general information and a Facebook Group which is used by members to share current issues.
|
Very much the new kid on the block; take-up of this mobile phone based app has really taken off as a communication vehicle for members. Essentially providing free texts across groups of members this is a very fast way of getting messages to a wide audience. Dom Maxwell manages the group on our behalf.

And of course there's always email, telephone or just plain old face-to-face (such as at a club meeting or on a weekly club ride).
WEEKLY CLUB MEETINGS

RELIABILITY TRIAL
This is an annual, non-competitive, event which is held on a Sunday morning (usually in November). Riders can choose from a ride of around 37 or 50 miles and aim to complete the course within a self-determined timeframe at a speed to suit themselves. Needless to say tea and cake is involved.

TOURIST TRIAL
This is an annual Sunday morning fun ride that is somewhat like a cross between a treasure hunt, orienteering and a bike ride.
For more information click here.
Andrew Lock is organising the 2016 edition to be held on Sunday 16 October.
Message from Andrew:
I am pleased to tell you that the Tourist Trial, with the largest club trophy of all, is scheduled for next Sunday 16th October.
The weather forecast for next Sunday looks promising with 16degs and sunshine forecast. Details of the event are all contained on the attached flyer.
I will be providing colour copies of maps so if you don't have the map in question it won't be a problem and you will be able to take part in full.
Due to finding out yesterday that a certain cafe was closing for 2 weeks holiday s of today I have had to change the route slightly and thus the event will now finish at the Crossbush Farm Shop Cafe (opposite entrance to McDonalds) and elevenses will not be in Amberley. Anyone who does not intend to take part but would like to enjoy the homemade cakes and tea/coffee at elevenses, please contact me directly and I will advise the location.
Look forward to seeing you out for an enjoyable morning's ride along some wonderful Sussex lanes.

ANNUAL AWARDS DINNER
In November the club holds its Annual Dinner and Prize Presentation.
For more information click here.
This year's event is on Saturday 2nd December and is being organised by Dom Maxwell:
Message from Dom:
Hi Everyone,
Once again the time for the awards night is upon us, it’s a bit later this year due to some “golfers” nicking our spot.
So please put the 2nd December into your diary.
Everyone is welcome you don’t need to be a club member, and please spread the word. The ticket price is subsidised by WECC at £22.50 per person.
Our compare once again is the legendary Ian Cheeseman, and not only that but we also have custard this year.
Please give cash and cheques to me, make sure I record the fact you are giving me money (names on envelopes is useful for this), and let me know if you are a vege or have an allergy.
I should be at the club most Tuesdays until the awards night so seek me out.
Very much looking forward to seeing you all there and having a great end of season celebration and party.
All the very best,
Dom
