Early on Sunday 21st April 2024 Karl and Cheesy travelled over to Est Sussex to ride the ESCA 25 Mile TT to represent the club. Temperature was hovering around 4 degrees with a pretty strong and blustery northerly wind, albeit the sun was out! The ride to the turn was straightforward enough with a few side gusts just to keep riders awake but the return leg was brutal and most riders got hit by gusts pushing them into the road and holding on for dear life. Despite not ideal conditions both Karl and Cheesy were happy with their rides as they both set course PB’s by 2 minutes and 29 seconds and 1 minute and 52 seconds respectively.
The event was won by Jacob Storey (Trainsharp) with a 52.05.

Easter Monday 2024 saw just one WECC rider in open events, Brighton Mitre Hilly
TT, being Cheesy’s third race in four days – Nutter! Dry
conditions with a moderate breeze on a very undulating course with what is effectively a hill climb after 27 miles – Cruel!! Cheesy’s legs were feeling very heavy but he was pleased
with his ride, especially as he managed to keep him minute man behind him until
the finish, but tomorrow will definitely be a rest dayThe
event was won by Timothy Torrie of Trainsharp with an
incredible time of 1.01.11.

Easter Sunday 2024 saw just one WECC rider in open events, A3crg 25 Mile event
on the A3. Dry conditions with a moderate ENE wind meant that the northbound
legs were hard going. Cheesy was pleased with his ride and caught most of the
13 riders in front of him and managed to push along pretty strongly despite Fridays race still being in the legs. Whilst dry the
temperature was hovering around 4 degrees so still fresh. The event was won by
Jamie Whitcher (Bournemouth Cycleworks)
with an incredible time of 49.13.

Good Friday 2024 saw just one WECC rider in open events, the Crawley Wheelers
Sporting TT (41.60 Miles). Despite warming up in the dry, it was clear that the
roads were wet, the wind was blowing at around 20 mph and temperature was in
single figures. Cheesy took to the start line and soon afterwards the rain
came, gusts from the side and the first third of the course was pretty much in
to a headwind and many described the conditions as “Biblical!” Cheesy
persevered and got into a rhythm but the conditions meant that by three quarter
distance his hands and feet had lost all feeling making gear changing and braking a challenge. Despite getting back to the car
shivering uncontrollably and having to get the race winner, Kris Coxen, to undo his helmet strap Cheesy was pleased with his
ride and placed in the top third of the 49 finishers.
